130: Linux 5.10, GTK 4.0, CentOS Update, OBS 26.1, Ubuntu Touch

On this episode of This Week in Linux, we've got a lot of big updates like the latest release of Linux kernel with version 5.10. A major version update for the GTK toolkit has been released with GTK 4. We've got a follow up to the Cen-toss topic from last week. OBS Studio released version 26.1.00 that has a lot of cool Linux related features and I am so excited to try this latest version! 128: SUSE / Rancher Labs, System76 AMD Laptop, Linux on Apple M1 Mac Project

On this episode of This Week in Linux, SUSE's acquisition of Rancher Labs is now complete and I'll tell you why this matters. System76 announced their first entry into the world of AMD powered Linux Laptops with the new Pangolin laptop. A developer seems to want to prove me wrong about Linux Support for Apple's M1 Mac so we'll talk about that. Pine64 announced that the KDE PinePhone is available for pre-order. Plus we've got a lot of desktop environment news this week with new releases of both Linux Mint's Cinnamon and Solus' Budgie desktop and the dreaded single-threaded issue for GNOME may be coming to an end. Episode 123: Fedora 33, DMCA Takedown on youtube-dl, Pro1 X, X Server Being Abandoned? | This Week in Linux 123

This week has been packed with news, including some personal news of my own. If you are watching the video version you may notice that I am in a different room. Well I moved but more on that later. This week's episode is so jam packed! Fedora announced the latest release of Fedora 33. There was a DMCA Takedown on youtube-dl by RIAA and we have updates on this. A new Linux powered smartphone has been announced called the Pro1 X and it's said to come with your choice of LineageOS & Ubuntu Touch. AMD made 2 big announcements this week with the Radeon RX 6000 Series and that AMD is set to acquire Xilinx. SiFive announced a new development board called HiFive Unmatched which is powered by the RISC-V architecture. At long last, Snap Packages Are Getting A Speed Boost. There has been some confusion around the X Server recently and there are discussions of if it has been abandoned. Ubuntu 20.10, System76's Thelio Mega, CUPS Forked from Apple | This Week in Linux 122

We've got a stacked episode this week, so coming up on This Week in Linux, we're going to start things off with the latest release of Ubuntu 20.10 and the Ubuntu 20.10 Flavour releases. Then we're going to jump into the ridiculous realm with a new product from System76 called the Thelio Mega. There's been some big news in the Printing world of Linux related to CUPS. NVIDIA has announced that support for Linux 5.9 is not ready yet so we'll talk about what that means and whether or not it will affect you. Later in the show we're going to cover some more Distro News from Trisquel with their 9.0 release and SystemRescue 7.0 is another recovery distro to check out. On this episode of This Week in Linux, we've got a monster of a show with so many great topics and even some potentially controversial stuff to talk about. We're going to start off this episode with the namesake of the show, the Linux Kernel with version 5.9 being released. KDE announced the latest version of Plasma with version 5.20 and Pine64 made some really cool announcements of their own that I am so excited to share with you. LibreOffice published an Open Letter to Apache OpenOffice about what they think should happen with the future of OpenOffice. This one will be very interesting. We got a new release of Krita with version 4.4 this week. Later in the show we will talk about some Distro release related to 2 recovery distros: Redo Rescue 3.0 and Rescuezilla 2.0.
